Class Experience
This class will give kids an overview of stress and how they can cope during stressful times. This class is interactive where students will feel free to share their personal experiences with stress, where they feel stress in their bodies, and share some of the ways that they cope with their stress. This class is open to every child who is interested in learning how to identify stress within themselves, identify their personal strengths, and problem-solving effective ways to cope with stress in the moment. We will have an interactive discussion and an informal quiz at the end to see how much each student understands the concepts discussed. My teaching style is informal, fun, and flexible. If a certain topic seems to be of interest to the group we will explore it. No prior experience with coping skills is necessary. All are welcome!
1. We will discuss what happens in our brains when we are stressed.
2. We talk about how each of us experiences stress in our bodies and minds.
3. We will talk about some positives and negatives to stress.
4. We will identify some healthy and non-healthy ways people cope with stress.
5. The class will end with us creating a 5-4-3-2-1 art-based stress plan we can use when we need it.
6. We will have a short quiz at the end (time permitting) to see how much students understand the concepts discussed.
