## Kindergarten Readiness- MATH

In this ongoing class, students will learn math skills each week to get them ready for Kindergarten! In this interactive class we will practice writing numbers, counting, simple addition and subtraction, simple geometry, and much much more!

Let's get ready for Kindergarten! This is an ongoing class that meets 1x a week. This small group math class is designed to get help get little learners excited, confident, and ready to start Kindergarten.

This is a fun interactive teacher-led virtual class where learner participation and interaction are encouraged. Students will be able to join at anytime, as these classes are independent of one another. Every week there will be a new and exciting theme, lesson, and skill that we learn.  Students will get to interact with me through fun activities, learn new songs to help with their number writing skills, and help solve some fun adventurous math problems with the class. We will be practicing a combination of the skills listed below.

Math Skills for Kindergarten:

◾️Number recognition and writing: number flash cards, counting objects, subitizing (memorizing number patterns without counting), using dice, spinners, & other math tools to demonstrate a number, number poem/songs to help learners remember how to write numbers correctly, lots of practice writing numbers with my help.

◾️Simple Addition & Subtraction:
Number bonds, counting on, using number lines, grouping objects, using multiple methods to write and visualize addition and subtraction problems, using objects to display an addition problem

◾️Simple Geometry (shapes 2D & 3D): Identifying shapes, counting sides, shape poems, shapes around me, 3d shapes, knowing the difference between 2d and 3d shape

◾️Patterns: Identifying patterns (ABA, AAB,ABB, ABC), identifying what comes next, missing, and finishing patterns, identifying the differences

◾️Sorting and Classifications: grouping objects that are similar into category groups, sorting by size, shape, & color, measuring objects using informal measurement tools to tell how tall, long, or wide it is, using vocabulary: bigger, shorter, smaller, wider, more and less to categorize

◾️Calendar: Identifying the months and days of the week, calendar number orders, counting, pattern identification

* Week of August 15th: Dinosaur Math (Simple Addition & Subtraction, Number Identification).

* Week of August 22nd: Carnival (Simple Geometry 2D & 3D Shapes, Identifying, sorting and drawing)

* Week of August 29th: Under the Sea (Identifying numbers, number bonds, writing numbers)

* Week of September 5th: Woodland Adventures (Simple Addition, Number Identification, Patterns)

* Week of September 12th: Astronaut Addition (Addition, Counting On, Number lines, Word Problems)

* Week of September 19th : Ninja Training (Counting by 1s & 10s, Number Order, Simple Word Problems)
